hollywood glamour

So red carpet season has officially come to a close with last night's Oscars. Over the past few years, I have become so obsessed with the fashions that are worn on the red carpet; most the time I don't even care to watch the awards part of the show. For this blog post, I wanted to go through my favorite, and least favorite, red carpet looks this season.
The Golden Globes started the red carpet season off with a bang. My favorite looks from this red carpet were Angelina Jolie, Amber Riley, and representing for the boys Chris Colfer.
Simply stunning.
Work it girl!

The worst dressed of the Globes goes to Heidi Klum.
Just so wrong.

Moving on to the SAG awards, my absolute favorites were Lea Michele and Mila Kunis. This was my favorite look of Mila's for the whole season! Everything from the hair, makeup, and dress was just perfect!

My worst for the SAG awards, and maybe for the whole season, goes to Angie Harmon. All i can think of is flamingos and/or it's a girl!
I love the Grammys red carpet. Not only because it is the night for music, but because the dresses are more fun and more daring than the other award shows. My favorite for this red carpet was Jennifer Lopez. Hands down. This look just screams GRAMMYS.
LOVE.

And the obvious worst. Wanna take a guess?? Lady Gaga. I'm sorry but showing up in an egg womb? We all know you're creative but really?

Now comes the big one, the Oscars. Overall, I think the Oscar looks were a bit understated. I thought a lot of people looked stunning but I was expecting to be blown away by everyone. Here are my faves. I know a lot of people probably won't agree, but I am so in love with Reese Witherspoon's whole look. I love her Barbiesque ponytail and simple yet classic gown. I thought she looked so stunning.

Hilary Swank looks like the Oscar winner that she is. Wasn't sure about the feathers at first, but they grew on me (not literally) and she made the list.

Next, not only is Jennifer Lawrence a Kentucky Louisville girl, but her Calvin Klein dress fits her like a glove. For a first time nominee, she looks like a pro.
Shout out to the Louisville girl. You can't go wrong in Calvin Klein.
I also included something different for this red carpet: my best dressed couple, Camilla Alves and Matthew McConaughey. Her dress was so stunning and it was in my favorite color, black. and well he never looks bad in my opinion.

Obsessed! So much drama.

Worst dressed at the Oscars goes to Nicole Kidman. Too much fabric. It was just bad. But that seems to be her trend this season. Was that too harsh?

Hair is gorgeous. Dress not so much.

No no.
But at the end of the day, she is still one of the most classic and glamorous movie stars of this generation but I just was not a fan of any of her looks. Also, I loved most all of Anne Hathaways dress changes during the Oscars. I'm just a huge fan of hers (long live Mia Thermopolis!). Well that's it! Let me know who your favorites were and if you agree/disagree with my picks! Have a great week, xoxo.

some new additions to my closet!

So, much to the dismay of my bank account, I have had a little bit of a shopping problem the last few weeks, especially since the new forever 21 opened here. I just want to share some of the new pieces I have picked up! First off i got 2 new dresses at forever for pretty reasonable prices!
Striped dress: $12.80, Lace dress: $22.80
Secondly, I really was in need for some new tops. I feel like i keep wearing the same outfits over and over when I go out so I picked these up. I've been really loving navy and lace recently and I've always had a love for bows ;) I also picked up some baggier tops/sweaters. My sister-in-law says I wear maternity clothes but I just like the way they fit. I think  a baggy sweater with skinny jeans and flats is so cute (and comfortable).
how cute are the bows?

my "maternity" wear aka my favorites :)
Well that's it for my Forever finds. The next things I picked up were from Blush Boutique. I had never been there before but my sorority had a fundraiser there and 20% of the proceeds went to Prevent Child Abuse America so that was the perfect excuse/reason to stop in. I planned on practicing self control but saw some things i just could not pass up big surprise there. I got that powder blue one shoulder dress, a belt, a bandeau top, and a ring all for about $65. Not too shabby in my opinion.

only $4.99!
Well Mom, if you ever read this, i do apologize but you have to admit I got a lot of cute stuff ;) Hopefully you wont see another blog like this one for a while. If you do, please contact someone to take away my credit card. Thanks. xoxo

hello lovelies

So after becoming addicted to blogs and searching for something else to take time away from my school work, i've decided to start blogging. I'm going to go ahead and say up front that i have a tendency to start something like this only to stop after a few months, but i'm going to try and break that trend this time. I'm at this new place in my life; an exciting, positive, and just all around happy place as cliche as that might sound. I'm hoping to bring a little bit of the excitement and happiness to this blog by shedding a little bit of loveliness into your day. For my first post I just want to let you all know something things i've been loving lately!
In music, i recently fell in love with a band called The Avett Brothers. They performed at the Grammys and it was love at first chord {oh yeah, i like corny/lame phrases like that. you'll get used to it}.
The Avett Brothers
My obsession with Mumford & Sons has been going on a while longer. Their breakout hit was "Little Lion Man" and they had a very unique sound so with further exploration, the obsession began. Check both of these bands out if you like sweet melodies and mellow/piano music with a hint of a big band sound.
Mumford & Sons
I also recently finished the book Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. I picked this up because I saw a preview for the film adaptation that's coming out in March and decided it was a must read. Although, now the movie will not be as good since I read the book but i'll still get to look at Robert Pattinson for approximately 2 hours and i've always been a big fan of Reese Witherspoon so win/win maybe?
Next on my reading this, besides my Consumer Behavior textbook, is The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larson. I bought this book after I finished The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo but then school started back and blah blah blah.

Well here it is. Hopefully this is just the start of something that i can continue for the final 15 months of my college years (ahhhhhh!!) as well as in my transition into the real world. Thanks for reading. xoxo
