lunch break blogging

Hello dolls!
I'm currently on my lunch break from work so I thought I'd take some time and write a little bit! I'm still thoroughly enjoying my internship and keeping my fingers crossed that this turns into a part time job in the fall then perhaps full time when I graduate in May! Crazy how time flies when you're having fun! But I really love it and the more time I spend here the more I can see myself working here in the future!

Besides my internship, nothing really exciting is going on. I did just get a MacBook Pro so i've been having fun figuring it out. It's so nice to actually have a computer that works! Oh, and i've become addicted to Pintrest. I probably spend way too much time on there but I can't help it! If you're not on pintrest, you should be. Join at your own risk ;)

But there's a huge stack of papers on my desk that need to be sorted through so until next time. xoxo, Leah.

what i'm loving wednesday!

Happy Wednesday!

In honor of today, I want to share a few things I'm loving.
#1: My internship!
As I mentioned in my last post, I am interning at CurrentMarketing. I was loving it last week and I'm still loving it nearly 2 weeks in! I just can't say enough great things about this place!

#2: A/C
It has been insanelyyyyy hot and humid in KY and I am loving some A/C. Even though the a/c at my house is hit or miss I am definitely trying not to take the coolness for granted.

#3: Louisville, the city.

Through my internship I've gotten know more places around the city. I've gotten more familiar with the Frankfort Ave. area and downtown. I've been living here for nearly 3 years so it's about time I broadened my horizon!

So that's going to wrap it up for me on this Wednesday. Hope you're all having a great week so far! xoxo

new beginnings!

Hi dolls!

Today is my first day of my summer internship at Current Marketing! I'm so unbelievably excited for this summer! I have my own desk (which I will post pictures of as soon as I decorate it to my liking) and the people here are so wonderful and I feel so welcomed. I also get my own MacBook to use at work and am already dying to get one for myself (please Mom...). There's a refrigerator full of diet cokes (my favorite everrrr), oh and did I mention I get my own desk!??! This is already shaping up to be an amazing place for me and it's only the first day. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings! Until then... oh and sorry about being missing for almost two months. My life has been CRAZY lately. But thankfully most of that is in the past and I'm ready for a fresh start and a new beginning! Have a wonderful day :) xoxo

M.I.A.

I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. It has been an obscene amount of time since i last updated my poor little blog. I have been consumed with school lately and applying for summer internships (I have an interview my dream internship in the AM. wish me luckkk!) These last few weeks I have hardly had any free time from school and if i did get free time i was spending it with friends and family and when not doing that, my favorite pastime, napping.
For this post I think i'll just share a random assortment of images I've been loving lately:

<3

I need this!!

my favorite :)

captivating.

At the moment, I'm procrastinating taking a little break from another project that is due in the next couple days. Unfortunately, I must get back to work.
I promise I'll be updating more frequently. Hope you all have a wonderful week, xoxo

a lovely weekend in the city

It's a cold and dreary day in KY. Perfect for laying in bed and catching up on some TV and the blogworld. I'm finally getting around to posting some pics from my trip to Chicago last weekend. I had sooooo much fun with my cousins and exploring the city. The more I go there, the more I love it. Here are some pics of our adventures :)
Sushi at OYSY. yummmm
Watching the CATS at The Pony!

at the bean!
Saturday night out!

We did make a shopping trip to Michigan Ave. I practiced some self control  so unlike me and didn't purchase a single thing. Then, we stopped by this little boutique near my cousins apartment called Never Mind. They had some great sales going on and I picked up a scarf, crop top, and 2 dresses for $75. That's becoming my favorite store to visit when in Chitown. Overall it was a great weekend and can't wait to go back in the summer time! Have a great weekend, xoxo.

music monday

Today is my first official 'music monday' post! I have an extreme love for music and have recently updated my iTunes library with
some amazing new music. I thought I would share with you guys my current favorite songs/albums. First off, I just bought Adele's new album, 21. It definitely has lived up to all the hype. Her voice is out of this world. My favorites so far are "Don't You Remember" and "Set Fire to the Rain".

Secondly, I am a huge Gleek. I love that show so much! I've always loved musicals and Broadway and this show is just the perfect combination of the two. Seriously, i'm obsessed. But anywho, on the most recent episode the cast performed two original songs at regionals and of course I had to get them ASAP. "Loser Like Me" and "Get it Right" are both so good! Even if you're not a fan of the show I bet you would love these songs.

Next on my list, I tweeted a link to this video last week and I simply cannot get the song out of my head. "Who Says" by Selena Gomez has such a great message and is perfect for riding along with your windows down with your besties. Loves it!

And finally, I just got back from Chicago and Kim Kardashian's "Jam" was our theme song for the weekend! My bff and I were actually singing it aloud in the airport upon takeoff. People were staring but no biggie. It's just such a fun song and obviously she is not a singer but the song is so catchy and pumps you up! It was perfect for our fun weekend in the city (more on that later so stay tuned).

Well here it is! The first of many music monday posts! Let me know what your favorite tunes are at the moment in the comments. Hope you all have a great week, xoxo.

st. pattys day!

It's an insanely beautiful day in the bluegrass, 77 degrees and not a cloud in the sky! This is such a wonderful change from the cold, cloudy, and rainy it's been. However, I will once again be trading in spring for winterish this weekend while I'm in Chicago. I'm so excited for another fun weekend in the city with some favorites! I'll definitely post a blog when I get back of pictures and maybe some things I bought i think my wallet just made a mad dash out the door. In the meantime, here's a pic of my favorite little my girls in the entire world enjoying their St. Patrick's Day.
My nieces, Mia and Molly :)

Hope you're enjoying yours, xoxo.

Look Book 1

Look Book 1

So last fall, thanks to some inspiration from my cousin Rebecca, I created an inspiration board or 'look book'  to turn to when I can't seem to find the right outfit to wear or to draw from when I go shopping a little too often. I recently revamped mine (seen below)for the upcoming spring season so I decided to create a virtual one on Polyvore. I think this ensemble captures my favorite fashion trends for this season; lace, bows, neutrals, and ultra-girly florals.

I love magazines and just can't seem to resist picking them up at the store bad habit. Some of the looks I clipped out are a little out of my budget but there are many places to get the same look for a lot less! I plan on posting pictures of outfits that are inspired by my look book/inspiration board. Let me know what you all think of this idea and if that's something you'd like to see in the comments :)

I'm headed home tomorrow for a few days before I take off to Chicago with my bestie! Hope you all have a lovely day! xoxo

pretty polishes: spring 2011

Spring Nail Polishes
As you all know, spring is right around the corner. For me, this means less layers, rain boots, and one-step-closer to summer. I have become quite obsessed with nail polishes over the last year or so. I tend to have ADD when it comes to nail polish so I change them often. I'm so excited to break out the pretty pastels and brights for the upcoming season. Here are some of my favorites that will get you through spring and help you transition into summertime.

1. Revlon: Grey Suede
2. Revlon: Minted
3. Essie: Lapis of Luxury
4. Revlon: Electric Pink
5. China Glaze: Peachy Keen
6. Essie: Nice is Nice
7. Essie: Van d'Go

Revlon polishes are my absolute favorite 'drug store' nail polish brand. They just stay on my nails really well and they're really inexpensive compared to other brands. Grey Suede is the best nude color i have found for my skin tone. It looks like khaki on my nails and goes with anything. I just think its classic and chic.

At first, I was really hesitant when it came to mint green polish. I just didn't know if I could pull it off. But I finally decided I didn't care how it looked on me I was going to wear it anyway. I got Minted because it was the color I was looking for and I love it.

I recently bought Essie's Nice is Nice from Walgreens and I am absolutely in love! I think i have a new favorite for spring. It's the perfect liliac/lavender color. I actually do not have Lapis of Luxury, Van d'Go, or China Glaze's Peachy Keen but I have seen them everywhere on other beauty blogs and i'm dying to get them.

Finally, Revlon's Electric Pink is the color that i've been rocking on my toes throughout winter. I like looking at my feet and thinking about warm weather i'm lame. Even though the name says pink, I definitely think this is a coral color. I would compare it to OPI's Cajun Shrimp. Regardless, it's bright and fun and great for the warm weather that is HOPEFULLY coming our way. Until next time, xoxo.

Got the new Revlon nail polish in 'Gold Coin' last night! Never tried a metallic nail polish before but I really like this! Not sure if it's the best color for my skin tone but i still figured i'd give it a try. I'll be posting another blog with my favorite spring nail polish colors so check back soon! xoxo

hollywood glamour

So red carpet season has officially come to a close with last night's Oscars. Over the past few years, I have become so obsessed with the fashions that are worn on the red carpet; most the time I don't even care to watch the awards part of the show. For this blog post, I wanted to go through my favorite, and least favorite, red carpet looks this season.
The Golden Globes started the red carpet season off with a bang. My favorite looks from this red carpet were Angelina Jolie, Amber Riley, and representing for the boys Chris Colfer.
Simply stunning.
Work it girl!

The worst dressed of the Globes goes to Heidi Klum.
Just so wrong.

Moving on to the SAG awards, my absolute favorites were Lea Michele and Mila Kunis. This was my favorite look of Mila's for the whole season! Everything from the hair, makeup, and dress was just perfect!

My worst for the SAG awards, and maybe for the whole season, goes to Angie Harmon. All i can think of is flamingos and/or it's a girl!
I love the Grammys red carpet. Not only because it is the night for music, but because the dresses are more fun and more daring than the other award shows. My favorite for this red carpet was Jennifer Lopez. Hands down. This look just screams GRAMMYS.
LOVE.

And the obvious worst. Wanna take a guess?? Lady Gaga. I'm sorry but showing up in an egg womb? We all know you're creative but really?

Now comes the big one, the Oscars. Overall, I think the Oscar looks were a bit understated. I thought a lot of people looked stunning but I was expecting to be blown away by everyone. Here are my faves. I know a lot of people probably won't agree, but I am so in love with Reese Witherspoon's whole look. I love her Barbiesque ponytail and simple yet classic gown. I thought she looked so stunning.

Hilary Swank looks like the Oscar winner that she is. Wasn't sure about the feathers at first, but they grew on me (not literally) and she made the list.

Next, not only is Jennifer Lawrence a Kentucky Louisville girl, but her Calvin Klein dress fits her like a glove. For a first time nominee, she looks like a pro.
Shout out to the Louisville girl. You can't go wrong in Calvin Klein.
I also included something different for this red carpet: my best dressed couple, Camilla Alves and Matthew McConaughey. Her dress was so stunning and it was in my favorite color, black. and well he never looks bad in my opinion.

Obsessed! So much drama.

Worst dressed at the Oscars goes to Nicole Kidman. Too much fabric. It was just bad. But that seems to be her trend this season. Was that too harsh?

Hair is gorgeous. Dress not so much.

No no.
But at the end of the day, she is still one of the most classic and glamorous movie stars of this generation but I just was not a fan of any of her looks. Also, I loved most all of Anne Hathaways dress changes during the Oscars. I'm just a huge fan of hers (long live Mia Thermopolis!). Well that's it! Let me know who your favorites were and if you agree/disagree with my picks! Have a great week, xoxo.

some new additions to my closet!

So, much to the dismay of my bank account, I have had a little bit of a shopping problem the last few weeks, especially since the new forever 21 opened here. I just want to share some of the new pieces I have picked up! First off i got 2 new dresses at forever for pretty reasonable prices!
Striped dress: $12.80, Lace dress: $22.80
Secondly, I really was in need for some new tops. I feel like i keep wearing the same outfits over and over when I go out so I picked these up. I've been really loving navy and lace recently and I've always had a love for bows ;) I also picked up some baggier tops/sweaters. My sister-in-law says I wear maternity clothes but I just like the way they fit. I think  a baggy sweater with skinny jeans and flats is so cute (and comfortable).
how cute are the bows?

my "maternity" wear aka my favorites :)
Well that's it for my Forever finds. The next things I picked up were from Blush Boutique. I had never been there before but my sorority had a fundraiser there and 20% of the proceeds went to Prevent Child Abuse America so that was the perfect excuse/reason to stop in. I planned on practicing self control but saw some things i just could not pass up big surprise there. I got that powder blue one shoulder dress, a belt, a bandeau top, and a ring all for about $65. Not too shabby in my opinion.

only $4.99!
Well Mom, if you ever read this, i do apologize but you have to admit I got a lot of cute stuff ;) Hopefully you wont see another blog like this one for a while. If you do, please contact someone to take away my credit card. Thanks. xoxo

2.21.2011

hello lovelies

So after becoming addicted to blogs and searching for something else to take time away from my school work, i've decided to start blogging. I'm going to go ahead and say up front that i have a tendency to start something like this only to stop after a few months, but i'm going to try and break that trend this time. I'm at this new place in my life; an exciting, positive, and just all around happy place as cliche as that might sound. I'm hoping to bring a little bit of the excitement and happiness to this blog by shedding a little bit of loveliness into your day. For my first post I just want to let you all know something things i've been loving lately!
In music, i recently fell in love with a band called The Avett Brothers. They performed at the Grammys and it was love at first chord {oh yeah, i like corny/lame phrases like that. you'll get used to it}.
The Avett Brothers
My obsession with Mumford & Sons has been going on a while longer. Their breakout hit was "Little Lion Man" and they had a very unique sound so with further exploration, the obsession began. Check both of these bands out if you like sweet melodies and mellow/piano music with a hint of a big band sound.
Mumford & Sons
I also recently finished the book Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. I picked this up because I saw a preview for the film adaptation that's coming out in March and decided it was a must read. Although, now the movie will not be as good since I read the book but i'll still get to look at Robert Pattinson for approximately 2 hours and i've always been a big fan of Reese Witherspoon so win/win maybe?
Next on my reading this, besides my Consumer Behavior textbook, is The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larson. I bought this book after I finished The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo but then school started back and blah blah blah.

Well here it is. Hopefully this is just the start of something that i can continue for the final 15 months of my college years (ahhhhhh!!) as well as in my transition into the real world. Thanks for reading. xoxo
